Dhruva Visnu and Garuda

Prince Dhruva meditated the Supreme Lord in the forest, and he practiced severe austerity in order to occupy a position more exalted than any yet achieved within the three worlds by anyone. Once, when six months of this austerity had passed, the form of the Lord in which Dhruva Maharaja was fully absorbed in meditation all of a sudden disappeared. Thus Dhruva was perturbed, and his meditation broke.

However as soon as he opened his eyes he saw the Supreme Personality of Godhead personally present, just as he had been seeing the Lord in his heart. When Dhruva Maharaja saw his Lord just in front of him, he was greatly agitated and offered Him obeisances and respect. He fell flat before Him like a rod and became absorbed in love of Godhead. He wanted to offer nice prayers to the Lord, but because he lacked sufficient knowledge, he hesitated; but by the mercy of the Lord, as soon as the Lord’s conchshell touched his forehead, he became completely aware of the Vedic conclusion. Then He offered his deliberate and conclusive prayers.
